If you have started looking for a job in your old industry or for a new career, and no one is even calling you back for an interview, it is probably time to take a good look at your resume.
If you have been adding to the same resume you used 20 years ago it is time to start over. First of all your resume may be using outdated terms. Acquire several publications from your industry's professional associations and read the articles so that you can discover the terminology.
If you have stopped renewing your membership to your industry's best professional association because before your company paid for the membership and today you would have to personally lay out the cash for the membership, it may be a very good investment. At the very least you'll learn the new language for your industry.
Once that is taken care of make sure your resume reflects today's resume trend. For instance, you no longer need to limit your resume to one page. There is no one you can show all your skills and expertise on one page. Another more current trend is to leave out References Available Upon Request. You do not need to say that because that is assumed.
These few suggestions should make a significant difference for your resume to attract attention. Keep us posted on your successes.
To your career success no mater your age.
