Ruthan... You're right. The retiree has a lot to offer -- both to the world and to him or herself. I think though that it can take some time for the retiree to decide what it is he or she truly wants from retirement. Thus, the newly retired person would do well to expect a period of "floundering around." Bill

Interesting perspective on the so called Golden Years! While today's over 55 crowd may not be enjoying years quite as "golden" as they once were, retirement is really what you make of it. Active adult communities like those by Del Webb are still very popular although they have changed over the years mostly in terms of amenities, location and size. Today we're seeing more 55 and better homeowners wanting a smaller community (not the massive 10,000+ home community of the past Del Webb), wanting different amenities such as pickleball vs. bocce ball and wanting to be in locations close to their current friends and family meaning they are not packing up and moving to the sunshine states, rather they want to stay close to home.

Interesting, Ruthan.

Training does not empower clients (students, people, children.) But coaching does empower them.

I guess that's why I decided to be a coach rather than a trainer. My goal is to empower people so they can make changes.

Thank you for this article.

I totally agree with this concept. I've created a business out of working only with experts. It's really buyer beware today with so many people to choose from. You need to find people you know, trust and respect to do business with and refer to. They say we are in the wisdom age now. Everyone can find "information" but wisdom and expertise is only acquired over time. It is earned!

Hi Ruthan: Appreciate your post. Yes, the immune system is complex and works best when balanced. Constant boosting can lead to over-response. Immune over-reaction drives inflammation in the body, a which is a big component of everything from heart disease to allergies. An immune system that can suppress itself when necessary is just as important as being aggressive when necessary.
