You and I already KNOW the basics. We’ve had our formal education years ago and realize that if we want to succeed in what ever we do we need to keep learning.
Times change and to keep up with the moving technologies and the concepts that reinvent themselves we need training. We need to learn from people who have expertise in specific areas whether it be setting up html code or learning to play the Google advertising games. We also need to learn from others who have more experience than we do in specific business areas that impact the internet.
And finally we need to take action and experience the business ourselves. Way too many people fail and never get their internet business off the ground at this stage because they want the experience they offer for their business to be perfect. No matter how good you are, your offer won’t be perfect, at least not for everyone. And besides, Internet operations are changing so quickly that you’re going to need to change what you do frequently or at least change how you do it. Take perfection out of your vocabulary.
But you already know this. You didn’t get where you are, raise a family, and excel in your career without training and experience and learning what to do when what you did didn’t work out very well the first time.
Having written this be advised that what I am about to write is not written in stone. I am merely giving you some common sense advice.
Step 1: You need to decide what you want to do for your internet business. This isn’t as easy as it sounds but it doesn’t mean you have to purchase a home study course on niche marketing or information marketing. Some people tell you to choose your niche based on your career experience, your hobbies or passions. That helps because you are likely to know more about the niche topic then if were setting up a back yard ice arena and you live in Florida. By the same token you may enjoy the process of marketing and putting strategies in place that it doesn’t matter your topic. Your choice.
Step 2. What is your mission for this topic, what do you want to tell the world? What is your tag line: To help families with an autistic child? Show how to train your Doberman pincher? Teach public speaking? Since you are doing this as a business what are you going to offer those who find you online? Do you have something about this topic that others will pay you to learn how you do it? How much value can you give others so that paying you for your information, for your knowledge and experience makes sense?
Keep in mind that information is simply information unless you can help others learn how this information can benefit their lives. Once you learn how to do that, you’re in business!
A few more steps to starting your Internet Business for my next blog post.
To your success

PS I almost forgot. Dr. Jeanette Cates has a wonderful, outstanding program for those of you starting an Internet Business. You can sign up for a free video that gives you lots of information. Actually I think the program is for people who have been in business for a while but not getting very far as well as for those just starting out. I’ve been a member of Incubator for just about a year. I’m addicted to her fresh perspectives and teaching. It’s worth every penny. She always has new things to add. Check it out here.
